Summary:
CPS Camp No. 24, a Soil Conservation Service project, consisted of five units located in Washington County, Maryland operated conjointly by Mennonite Central Committee and the Brethren Service Committee. Together they developed a unique demonstration project in cooperative subsistence farming on five run-down farms. The units worked in cooperation with the soil conservation agency to improve local soil conservation practices, and provide models to be followed by returning soldiers who wanted to be farmers after the war.
